Launched in 2000, the Care Mobile was a global pioneer, the first-of-its-kind prototype developed in partnership between UMass Memorial Medical Center and Ronald McDonald House.
Recognizing that many families struggle to access traditional healthcare settings, UMass Memorial Health introduced this flagship program to directly reduce regional healthcare disparities. What began as the nation’s very first Ronald McDonald Mobile Care Unit right here in Worcester has now grown into a global movement, with over 50 Care Mobiles operating worldwide today.
Supported by the ongoing generosity of Ronald McDonald House New England, we continue to bridge the gap in care, ensuring every child has the opportunity for a healthy future.
The UMass Memorial Health Ronald McDonald Care Mobile delivers an innovative, community-based model of care to children and families across Worcester County. We are dedicated to serving our most vulnerable neighbors, including socioeconomically disadvantaged, uninsured, and undocumented families, by bringing high-quality medical and preventive dental services directly to them.
Our state-of-the-art mobile unit reaches the heart of the community, serving 28 Worcester public and charter schools and maintaining nine neighborhood sites throughout the city. You can find us at familiar, accessible locations such as:
We believe that clear communication is essential to quality healthcare. To support the more than 100 languages spoken by our patient population, we provide qualified medical interpreters at no cost. Whether in-person or over the phone, we ensure that every family can receive vital health information in their preferred language.
