Our Ronald McDonald Houses

A Ronald McDonald House provides a place for families to call home while their sick child receives treatment in a hospital, enabling them to stay close at no cost. The House is a safe space that provides all the comforts of home, plus the compassion and hospitality of staff, volunteers, and other families all just steps away from the hospital. At each House, we work to alleviate the stress of daily living for families and enable them to focus on the health and well-being of their child. We have two House locations: Providence and Boston

Research shows that parents who stay at a Ronald McDonald House experience better quality sleep than those sleeping on the ward. Ronald McDonald House programs serve families who travel far from home for their child’s healthcare needs. A Ronald McDonald House provides much more than a place to stay. It provides comfort, support and resources for families, just steps away from the hospital.

Boston

Ronald McDonald House Boston is located in Charlestown, Massachusetts, and officially opened its doors in 2017. We currently offer 11 apartments: 10 for families and one dedicated community space where families can gather for meals, volunteer activities, and specialized programs at no cost. Our apartment-style accommodations provide a true “home away from home” environment, which is especially vital for families with children who may be immunocompromised.

Every unit is equipped with two or more beds and plenty of linens, pillows, and towels for families to use during their stay. There are televisions in the bedroom and living room as well as WiFi, cable and a dvd player. There is also a fully equipped kitchen stocked with basic foods prior to each family’s arrival. A washer/dryer in the unit and a supply of movies, toys, books, and games, allows our families to feel “at home” when dealing with the stress of a sick child.

Providence

Since 1989, the Ronald McDonald House Providence has served as a vital “home away from home” for families and caregivers during some of their most challenging moments. Nestled right next to the main hospital campuses in Rhode Island, our House provides a peaceful safe space where families can stay together without the added burden of lodging costs. With 28 private bedrooms and bathrooms, we prioritize comfort and privacy, ensuring that every guest has a dedicated space to rest and recharge just steps away from their loved one’s bedside.

We’ve designed every inch of the House to feel like home, from our fully-equipped kitchen and sunlit open spaces to our cheerful playrooms and quiet outdoor courtyard. For parents who need a moment of respite but aren’t staying overnight, our Day Use Room offers a dedicated space to catch up on work, take a refreshing shower, or simply nap and reset before heading back to the hospital. Whether you’re here for a single afternoon or a several-week stay, our doors are open to provide the warmth and community you need to focus on your family and your child’s recovery.
